SV “VENTOLIER 3” has lost all sails and propulsion and is currently drifting. On this passage he has also experienced steering issues and other mechanical failures.
Current position June 2 at 1003 AST is N16°36.6024′ W71°30.8478′ course NW(315°T) @ 1.7 knots. He seems to be in good spirits.
He has “rigged” a makeshift sail.
The solo captain is Alain Bedard, 72 years of age and a Canadian citizen.
The boat is a Beneteau Clipper 42 feet and a blue hull. He has been communicating with another cruiser via a Garmin In Reach.
He has his AIS turned on and may also have an Iridium device. His MMSI number is 316015780.
