Broadcast Version For Maritime Mobile Service Network and Other Nets

MRCC Cape Town requests sightings or contacts of this vessel to be made  to them.

Although SV Hummingbird did make contact, they are apparently still having trouble with contacts. MRCC Capetown has requested through the South African Maritime Mobile Net (SAMMNet) to still report any sightings or contact with them.

MRCC Cape Town is attempting to obtain information regarding the current location of the South African registered sailing vessel HUMMINGBIRD, call sign ZS5211 and MMSI number 601886500, with two crew on board.

The 06 meter (19 foot), single masted white and black yacht, departed St Helena Island on 04 April 2022 enroute to Cape Verde and only has VHF communication available. Sightings or contact to be communicated to MRCC Cape Town at (+27) 21 938 3300 or email mrcc.ct@samsa.org.za.

UPDATE: April 18, 2022

Skipper of S/V Hummingbird has contacted his family via Sat phone with a position and to confirm all ok onboard. The antenna had broken but they managed to repair it. They had also attempted to radio some fishing vessels in range but received no response.

Current position is: 01 44.4N 016 44.16W (513NM SW OF Monrovia in Liberia SRR)
