On June 9, 2021, USCG RCC Miami asked for assistance in locating S/V Rhum Line on passage between Little Exuma and Andros Island in the Bahamas.

The S/V RHUMB LINE, is a 39′ Leopard Catamaran with one person on board, ALAN HANSON, age 66.

Vessels in the Bahamas are asked to call out on the VHF for this vessel and advise Boatwatch.org or the USCG.

On June 3, 2021, RCC Miami advised that this single handed sailor is OK and has made contact.

The USCG RCC Miami has asked Boatwatch.org to assist in locating the S/V RHUMB LINE, a 39′ Leopard Catamaran with one person on board, ALAN HANSON, age 66, on passage between Puerto Plata, DR and Cat Island, Bahamas.

Captain HANSON called his wife via cell phone on Sunday 30 MAY 2021 saying he was 4 hours out of Cat Island, but never arrived. His intentions were to go from Cat Island to Key West, then to San Antonio, Texas.

All vessels in the area of Cat Island and enroute to Key West is requested to keep a sharp lookout and try to hail on VHF Channel 16. Notify USCG RCC Miami of any positive information at 305-415-6800 and Boatwatch.org.

It is possible that Cat Island is not accepting vessels due to Covid, which of course would have impacted his plans. He does not have any satellite tracker or AIS aboard the vessel.
