Boat Watch received this email from the family on December 17, 2024:

“Thank you so much for your help!! My dad was able to make contact and he has made it to Guanaja safely!!! He did have some engine trouble and wind working against him which caused the delay.”

Broadcast Version For Maritime Mobile Service Network and Other Networks

A BOLO has been issued for overdue SV ZEE DAME on passage from Kemah, Texas to Guanaja, Honduras. The solo captain, Kelly Wes Kirkconnell is 72 years old and has made this trip before. He normally takes 10-14 days and has been gone 18 days with no contact with his family. He normally will make contact by calling or by phone if stopping at a port.

SV ZEE DAME is a sloop, white hull with blue and gold stripe, enclosed cockpit with blue and white striped canvas shades in the cockpit and appears to be about 38 feet. The SV has a small HAM radio, no GPS and a dinghy.

Anyone with further information or sightings should contact your nearest Coast Guard or eddie@boatwatch.org. Keep a sharp lookout, assist if possible and report sightings.
