CANCEL BOLO FOR THE DINGHY
We have good news. The captain of the S/V FREAK N AWESOME received correspondence from the Royal Bahamas Defense Force who advised their 11.5 foot Highfield Dinghy with a 25 HP Yamaha outboard has been recovered and is waiting for them to claim it in Nassau.
The particulars of who found it and where are not known at this time, but when it went missing on 22 March from the Brigintine Cays, Boatwatch.org sent out a BOLO to dozens of marine interests and marinas in the Bahamas, including BASRA and the Royal Bahamian Defense Force. It’s a very nice dinghy and it’s nice to see honest folks in the Bahamas that recovered it and turned it in to the RBDF.
BOLO: All vessels in the area of the Tongue of the Ocean and Big Farmers Cay are requested to BOLO for a 2018 11.5 foot Highfield side console dinghy with a 25 HP Yahama engine that went walkabout from the S/V Freak N Awesome while at anchor at the Brigantine Cays, Bahamas on 22 March 2020. The Brigantine Cays are located at position Latitude : 23 42′ N Longitude : -76 08′ W.
The dinghy is described a white in color with US registration number DL 4194 AL.
At the time the dinghy parted from the boat the wind was blowing 320 degrees and it is thought it would be headed up the West side of the islands towards Big Farmers Cay. Anyone spotting this dinghy please secure it and contact KPK@ssca.org and we will coordinate it’s return to the owner.
