Four boaters jumped into Lake Erie after their boat caught fire Wednesday evening near Mentor at about 8 p.m. The boaters were wearing life jackets and they were rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after quickly abandoning ship. They are all now safe and back on shore, but the cause of the fire has not yet been announced.

Note from Boatwatch:

When is the last time you had your fire extinguishers inspected? Also, you CAN NOT have enough fire extinguishers on boat. We have Halon, Halotron, CO2, and Dry Chemical. The dry chemical usually does more damage to electronics and boat interiors than the fire.
