PORTLAND, Ore. — The Coast Guard made a public appeal for information on the deadly capsizing of a fishing vessel near the Siuslaw River Bar last month that claimed the lives of 2 Florence residents. Kyle and Amber Novelli owned and operated Novelli’s Crab and Seafood from their small facility on the docks in Old Town Florence.The couple died when their F/V Aquarius went down June 29. A third unidentified person survived.

“Investigators are seeking public information regarding the loss of two lives following the sinking of the commercial fishing vessel Aquarius,” the U.S. Coast Guard said Thursday in a statement.

“Anyone with information pertaining to the incident is encouraged to provide information to the Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Portland investigation team at: Pdxio@uscg.mil,” the Coast Guard said.

All emails with pertinent information will be reviewed, factored, and responded to accordingly.Upon completion of the investigation, the Coast Guard intends to develop a Report of Investigation (ROI) in accordance with Title 46 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 4.07-10, which will encompass findings of fact, conclusions, and safety recommendations aimed at preventing similar incidents.
