Utila Fisherman Comes Home

A heartfelt moment for our islands when Mr. Newton (Diamond) was towed back home.

He’s been missing since Friday, June 18th. Whilst on his way home from a day of fishing, he encountered mechanical problems causing him to lose steering power. He started drifting further away from Utila Cays as the hours went by.

Thankfully early this morning, a fisherman several miles off Tela, saw Mr. Newton and immediately approached to help.

Mr. Newton borrowed the gentleman’s cell phone and called a family member from the Utila Cays, and without hesitation, Mr. Louis Diamond was the captain who towed the boat in.

Many friends and family gathered around to welcome him home.

Mr. Newton Diamond is now home safe and sound recovering.

Special thanks to everyone that were involved in his search and also for the prayers.
