UPDATE: 10:40 AM Eastern – From MRCC Bremen – The owner confirms, that he resign the ownership of the raft. Tim Dyton can keep the raft as a souvenir or for training purpose. Please, handle the container with care when opening.
UPDATE: 10:25 AM Eastern – MRCC Bremen just received information, that the German sailing vessel LIBRA reached the port of Cogolin/France. The owner confirmed, that the vessel had lost a life raft in heavy weather. The description meshes with the picture of the canister.
Boatwatch is in touch with the MRCC and the finder to provide this information to the owner of the life raft if he wants it back. Thank you to MRCC Bremen, Boat Watch member Benjamin Farrudja for reporting this, to the finder for his information and other members who contributed. Good outcome.

Sailing Vessel LIBRA is currently located at WMED – Ligurean Sea at position 43° 25′ 27.768″ N, 6° 54′ 51.192″ E as reported by MarineTraffic Terrestrial Automatic Identification System on 2020-09-18 11:37 UTC (1 hour, 56 minutes ago) The wind in this area at that time blows from East direction at force 3 Beaufort. Where is this vessel going to? The vessel departed from BASTIA, FR on 2020-09-09 10:02 LT (UTC +2) and is currently sailing at 5.5 knots with Northeast direction What kind of ship is this? LIBRA (MMSI: 211125180) is a Sailing Vessel and is sailing under the flag of Germany. Her length overall (LOA) is 11 meters and her width is 3 meters. Could be that… He was in Corsica on September 9.
Maybe CROSS MED La Garde +33494611616 know about the loose of a life raft…

It may indicate the LIBRA sank and the liferaft failed to open. This may be a life threatening situation until we find the vessel LIBRA registered in Germany. Boatwatch is attempting to locate a vessel registered in Germany named “LIBRA”. A 4 person AVON LIFE RAFT was found floating in the the South coast of Sardinia, Italy.
The Life Raft was still in it’s fiberglass canister and in date.
The life raft is presently in the possession of the Oyster SV PEOPLE SEA. The SV found it on passage to Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Let’s all try to figure this out. It may indicate the LIBRA sank and the liferaft failed to open. This may be a life threatening situation until we find the vessel LIBRA registered in Germany.
