Broadcast Version For Maritime Mobile Service Network and Other Nets
On December 17, 2021, a EPIRB was activated at 13-21-00N 049-47-50W AT 162315Z, which is 569 NM East of Barbados registered to a 17 Meter Vessel Oceans Carisma.
Boatwatch determined that the vessel and the owner of Oceans Carisma are safely in Trinidad. The owner advised that he threw the EPIRB in a dumpster in Trinidad 10 days ago. MRCC Fort de France has been advised as well as RCC Miami.
All vessels should keep a sharp lookout, assist if possible and advise the nearest Coast Guard.
On 17 Dec 2021 at 8:30 AM Eastern Time Boatwatch.org contacted the owner of the S/V OCEANS CARISMA. The boat and the owner are both safe in Trinidad.
The owner, GUILHERME GEVAERD, advised that about 10 days ago he threw his EPIRB away in a dumpster at Peake’s Marina in Trinidad. He has no idea who may have taken the EPIRB from the dumpster.
MRCC Fort De France and RCC Miami were notified of the aforementioned information.
Please advise the nearest Coast Guard of any sightings of a vessel in distress or of any information concerning who may have taken this EPIRB out of the dumpster in Trinidad and what vessel it may be on.
