The U.S.-flagged catamaran SWEET SEA was robbed off Talara, Peru. Robbers, who carried firearms, boarded the vessel and assaulted the crew before they escaped.
The crew issued a distress alert which was received by the authorities at the port. The Coastguard was despatched and detected a boat unloading items at San Pedro beach. On seeing the authorities approach, the suspects fled the area; they left behind fuel and most of the stolen items.
